Congratulations! A Swimmer From Bekasi Aflah Fadlan Prawira Will Be Participating In Tokyo Olympics

JAKARTA - A swimmer in Bekasi Regency, West Java, Aflah Fadlan Prawira, has successfully entered the Tokyo Olympics after recording the best time in the final selection of the Indonesia Olympic Trail (IOT) at the Gelora Bung Karno Aquatic Stadium, Jakarta, 19-20 June 2021.

"The time record is in limit B, the best among dozens of other athletes", said Head of the All-Indonesian Swimming Association (PRSI) Bekasi Regency Wanto in Cikarang, Tuesday, as reported by Antara.

He said the 50 best swimmers in the country, both male and female, who were members of the national training center (pelatnas) participated in the final IOT selection stage yesterday to find out who the Indonesian representatives were able to pass the Tokyo Olympics.

"For limit A, which can pass automatically, no one has penetrated it, but Fadlan got the highest point with a record time of breaking through limit B", he said.

Fadlan became Indonesia's representative to compete in the Tokyo Olympics after collecting points according to the requirements of the International Swimming Federation (FINA).

In this event, Fadlan will compete in the 400 and 1.500 meters freestyle or the numbers whose limits he has succeeded in breaking.

Wanto revealed that in addition to the athletes he fostered, one female swimmer from Riau, Azzahra Permatahani, also represented Indonesia in the Tokyo Olympics swimming sport.

"Actually, from the last SEA Games, Fadlan's record of qualifying was only limited, he was only allowed to field one male and one female athlete through yesterday's final selection event", he said.

Currently, both of them are undergoing a national training camp in preparation for the Tokyo Olympics in order to be able to achieve the best results.

"We certainly hope that Fadlan will be able to make the best achievements at the Tokyo Olympics later. In addition to the Olympics, we also prepare Fadlan to focus on the National Sports Week (PON) team and West Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov)", he said.
