Killing Star Eve Jodie Comer Is On The Furiosa Cast List

JAKARTA - Furiousa, the prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road will include the name of Killing Eve's star, Jodie Comer, into the list of potential main characters.

Last week, it was confirmed by director George Miller that the film will be centered on the character Furiosa who appeared in the 2015 blockbuster film. However, actress Charlize Theron will not be returning.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Monday, May 18, Comer is now being spied on to play the younger incarnation of Imperator.

Miller previously revealed that he was considering bringing Theron back through de-aging technology. However, in the end he decided against it.

"For a long time, I thought we could use CG de-aging on Charlize, but I don't think we got there yet," he said as quoted by NME, Tuesday.

"Despite the bold attempts (to use this technology) on (the film) The Irishman, I think there is still a strange gap. Everyone is on the verge of breaking it," continued Miller.

Apart from Comer, the director is also reported to have considered Anya Taylor-Joy for the role. According to a Variety report last April, Miller had a Skype audition with the cast of The VVitch, Split, and Emma. However, what role was audited is unknown so far.

The prequel draft was written even before Fury Road started production, alongside extensive backstories for many of the other characters.

"This (we did) was purely a way to help Charlize and explain it to ourselves," explained Miller.

Meanwhile, Miller previously revealed that there are two new Mad Max films in his plans, which will be sequels. This news emerged following the easing of the dispute between Miller and the studio that oversees the production of the film, Warner Bros.

Two years ago, Miller sued Warner Bros. for not paying the bonus wage of Mad Max: Fury Road. According to the director's confession, previously he and Warner Bros had reached an agreement on a bonus wage of 7 million US dollars (Rp94, 5 billion).

But Warner Bros. instead accused Miller of being wishy-washy in many of his decisions while directing Fury Road, resulting in increased production costs.

On the basis of breach of the contract, Miller sued Warner Bros. to the Australian district court. However, Warner Bros. responded by secretly trying to divert the court outside Australia. But unfortunately, a court in California rejected the application of one of the largest studios in the world.

But last year Miller explained, the dispute between him and Warner Bros had subsided.

"The dispute has now stabilized and is becoming very positive because the dust appears to have subsided," Miller told NME at the time.
