Anies Echoes The Theme Of 'Jakarta Rise' At DKI's 494th Anniversary Commemoration
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan held a ceremony to commemorate the 494th anniversary of the City of Jakarta at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta. The ceremony was conducted in a limited capacity and broadcast online.
In his remarks, Anies said that the theme for this year's commemoration of DKI Jakarta's anniversary was 'Jakarta Rise'. This theme was chosen because Jakarta is still facing the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
"The theme of this year's commemoration of Jakarta's Anniversary is 'Jakarta Rise'. This theme has the meaning of an effort to recover the economy, restore health conditions towards a city of resilience, which is sustainable, which illustrates the dream of Jakarta residents to rise up," Anies said at the location, Tuesday, June 22.
Meanwhile, last year Anies took the theme "Tough Jakarta". At that time, the pandemic that had only entered for several months made the residents of the capital city face challenges and were required not to give up easily.
"When last year we faced a pandemic and celebrated the anniversary of Jakarta, we took the theme 'Jakarta Resilient'. This year 'Jakarta Rises'. While reminding everyone, the basic nature of the individuals in this city are people who are willing to face challenge," said Anies.
Anies views that Jakarta facilitates the presence of a better life. However, currently all parties are facing a wave of pandemics, the impact of the health crisis, to the economy.
Therefore, Anies reminded all people who come to Jakarta to play a role in facing challenges. The goal is to encourage progress for individuals, families, and communities in the capital city.
"That's why I remind you, when facing a pandemic, let's send a message to ourselves, our children, the children of our children that we, this generation, are a tough generation, tenacious, able to face challenges," said Anies.
"God has destined this generation to be a generation that is ready to face a pandemic. We are tested by a pandemic. But we are all sure that Allah will not give us a test, a trial, which we are unable to endure," he added.
