4 Village Heads In East Java Were Arrested By The Police For Using Illegal Goods, Claiming To Receive Supplies From Police Officers

JATIM - The village head of Wonojati with the initials MM who is one of the suspects in a drug case in Jember Regency, East Java admitted that he received methamphetamine from a police officer in the local area.

MM is one of 4 village heads who were arrested by the East Java Regional Police Ditreskoba (Polda) for using drugs. The other three, namely, the Tempurejo Village Head in Tempurejo District with the initials MA, the Tamansari Village Head in Wuluhan District with the initials SK (44), and HH (52) the Glundengan Village Head in Wuluhan District.

"In the report of the examination, MM told investigators that he had obtained evidence of methamphetamine from a policeman with the initials DPW who served at the Jember Police," said Jember Police Narcotics Investigation Unit Head AKP Dika Hadian in a written statement received by Antara in Jember, Monday, 21 May.

"According to the development of the results of the investigation of the case, the name of the police officer at the Jember Police was mentioned in the examination of the Head of the Wonojati MM Village and now the case file has been transferred to the Jember Police Unit," he said.

Following up on the delegation of case files from the Directorate of Nakorba Investigation of the East Java Police, he continued, his party has made efforts to examine witnesses and make minutes of confrontations.

"We have examined two witnesses, namely the Tempurejo village head and the Glundengan village head. As a result, both of them stated that they did not know that the drug transaction came from a member of the police with the initials DPW," he said.

He said investigators conducted an examination of DPW and the person concerned admitted that he had never transacted and gave anything to MM.

"On June 6, 2021, the DPW just stopped by the house of MM (Kades Wonojati) because he wanted to leave for the night picket service at the Wuluhan Police whose interests would only be introduced to HH (Kades Glundengan)," he said.

DPW's statement during the examination was followed by evidence of instructions obtained on the cellphone of MM (Kades Wonojati) and witnesses that there was no evidence of chat or communication that led to drug transactions with DPW.

The results of the confrontation report for witness HH (Kades Glundengan) stated that on June 6, 2021, he visited MM's house (Kades Wonojati) only intending to pay his debt to MM.

"They were just chatting and the Supreme Court was there, the meeting didn't last about 15 minutes, so the conclusion from the investigation by the Jember Police Satreskoba is that the methamphetamine that MM stated was obtained from the DPW police is not enough evidence," he said.
