Kang Emil Brings Bad News, The Variant Of COVID Delta Is Now Available In Depok And Karawang
JAKARTA - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil or Kang Emil said that the Delta COVID-19 variant had been found in the West Java region, namely in Karawang Regency and Depok City.
These findings are based on the results of genome sequencing studies conducted by Labkesda Jabar and ITB.
"The most recent news, the most important thing today is that the delta variant has arrived in West Java. It is present in Karawang and Depok based on the genome sequencing study conducted by Labkesda and ITB," said Kang Emil after the Committee Meeting for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19 and Regional Economic Recovery held online, in Bandung, Antara, Monday, June 21.
With these findings, said Kang Emil, it indicates that this variant is transmitting faster than the previous variant.
"Hopefully with this news we will increase our vigilance. Please convey to the public with the presence of the delta variant in West Java, the 5M program will be increased again," he said.
On that occasion, Kang Emil said that in general there was an increase in the use of beds or the Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR) for COVID-19 patients in the Jabat area, which is currently at 84 percent.
"Today ensure that all regions have 30 percent of the quota for COVID (patient) beds from 100 percent of beds for general patients. If 30 percent is full, please increase it to 40 percent, and if 40 percent is full, please increase it to 60 percent," he said
Kang Emil said if there is one area where all the beds are approaching 60 percent for COVID-19 patients, then handling the isolation room must be done as soon as possible.
"Now we are preparing to convert hotels, apartments as isolation places and emergency hospitals in the form of military tents on the land of the TNI and Polri which have been coordinated. Also this week we, with the APBD budget, have announced 400 medical volunteers," he said.
He further said that in general the death of COVID-19 patients in West Java was still under control, which was at 1.3 percent, although active cases were increasing and testing limitations were still being pursued.
"We are increasing the strengthening at the puskesmas level. So that those who enter the hospital are patients with severe and very severe symptoms. If the symptoms are mild and moderate, they are treated at the puskesmas, in the isolation area in the kelurahan which has been funded by village funds," he said
