Wisma Atlet Is Full, Government Can Prepare Hajj Dormitory For Isolation Of COVID-19 Patients
JAKARTA - The number of COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment at the Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital, Kemayoran, continues to increase. The incessant queue of incoming patients overwhelmed the health workers. In fact, the Kemayoran Athlete House is threatened that it will no longer accommodate patients.
In this regard, the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, asked the government to convert the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory into a place of isolation and treatment for COVID-19 patients.
This temporary transfer of function is to anticipate patients so that they can still be handled.
"I ask the government to prepare the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory to accommodate COVID-19 patients who are not being treated in hospitals", said Dasco, Monday, June 21.
The conversion is also considered safe because this year the government has canceled the 2021 Hajj pilgrimage.
"Considering that this year there will be no pilgrimage activities, so it should be used for other things", said the daily chairman of the Gerindra Party.
Dasco continued, in the management, the Hajj Dormitory will be coordinated directly by the government via the Ministry of Religion and the Hajj Hospital.
"So that coordination with the central government is still easy and going well", said Dasco, who is also the Coordinator of COVID-19 Countermeasures Task Force.
Moreover, he continued, the government had planned to add an isolation place if the Kemayoran Athlete House and several hospitals were no longer able to handle COVID-19 patients.
According to him, Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory can be a solution for the benefit of the people and society.
“The pilgrimage and the effort to heal human lives are both worships. And religion also allows the transfer of functions for something emergency and useful", concluded Dasco.
