Malaysia Lockdown But Garuda Indonesia Still Serves Jakarta - Kuala Lumpur Flights, Management: We Will Add If There Is An Increase In Demand
JAKARTA - Garuda Indonesia airline is still serving the Jakarta - Kuala Lumpur route when the Malaysian government implements a total lockdown or full movement restriction from 1 to 28 June 2021.
"Up to 18 days of the 'total lockdown' period, Garuda Indonesia is still serving customers with flights scheduled twice a week," said Counry Manager Malaysia, PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, Fredrik Kasiepo in Kuala Lumpur, Friday, after a meeting with the Transportation Attache of the Embassy. The Malaysian government announced a total statewide lockdown on 30 May 2021.
"The full closure will start from June 1 to June 14, 2021 and will be extended again until June 28, 2021 by excluding the transportation sector by land, water or air and the transportation sector and airports," he said.
Fredrik said Garuda Indonesia will continue to serve those who will mostly be traveling back to the country from Kuala Lumpur to areas in Indonesia via the transit city (transit city) Jakarta.
"We operate on Thursdays and Sundays while still paying attention to the wants and needs of the community based on supply and demand. If we feel there is a need for a surge in demand, we will add it," he said.
Currently, his party is still changing the type of aircraft from narrow body aircraft to larger aircraft (bigger aircraft) to meet passenger demand and "space" or tonnage for cargo.
