Jokowi Targets 1 Million People To Be Vaccinated In A Day, PKB: Not Enough, 2 Million People Should Be
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the House of Representatives Luqman Hakim assessed that the COVID-19 vaccination target of one million people per day is still lacking when looking at the surge in COVID-19 cases.
"The target of one million people being vaccinated every day, in my opinion, is not enough," Luqman told reporters, Friday, June 18.
According to him, it would be even better if the government increased the reach of vaccination to the public as a serious effort. In addition to the policy of tightening the implementation of health protocols.
Moreover, said Luqman, the emergence of a new variant of COVID-19 that spreads faster. There is also the problem of public saturation of the pandemic situation.
"Therefore, in my opinion, it will be very helpful if the government is able to vaccinate two million people per day," said the Secretary of the Social and Disaster Movement of the National Awakening Party (PKB).
Luqman assessed, if the vaccination of two million people per day can be implemented, the total national vaccination target of 181 million people with two injection doses will be completed in about 6 months.
"If it is only one million per day, it will take at least one year to complete the COVID-19 vaccination," he said.
Previously, TNI Commander Hadi Tjahjanto was optimistic that the TNI and Polri could meet the target set by President Jokowi regarding one million vaccinations a day in July 2021.
He said that he has implemented the one million vaccinations per day program, although currently only 700,000 have been vaccinated.
Even though it only reached 700,000 per day, he explained, his party could carry out 2,000 vaccinations in one day at one point.
"With the National Police, it becomes 4,000 per day. Meanwhile, the TNI and Polri have planned to vaccinate at 100 points throughout Indonesia," he said after reviewing the mass vaccination at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api (GBLA) Stadium, Thursday, June 17.
Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) encouraged the acceleration of the provision of COVID-19 vaccinations. He even targeted this month's vaccination could be given to 700 thousand people per day.
"We hope that this month, in June, the target for vaccinations per day of 700 thousand (dose, ed) can really be achieved. So that in July we have entered the target of vaccination per day of 1 million (dose, ed)," said Jokowi while monitoring the administration of vaccinations at RSUI Depok which was broadcast at the Presidential Secretariat, Wednesday, June 9.
He hopes that the implementation of mass vaccination can also be carried out well. Based on the report he received, at RSUI Depok vaccination had been given to 1,200 people consisting of educators, the elderly, and public servants.
