Print Record, Flick Bring Bayern To Score 50 Goals In Short Time

JAKARTA - Bayern Munich's 2-0 win over Union Berlin in the Bundesliga since being suspended due to COVID-19 marked a new record. Sunday, May 17, Bayern hit 50 goals under coach Hansi Flick in just 16 games.

Despite not playing for two months, things don't seem to have changed. Yes, Bayern are as slippery and effective as before the league was stopped, they tore up the Union which was rarely a threat.

Robert Lewandowski and Benjamin Pavard scored the winning goal for The Bavarians while at the same time helping this team firmly at the top of the standings with a four-point advantage over Borussia Dortmund. The Black Yellow played the day before by beating Schalke 4-0.

Flick took over as FC Hollywood coach from Niko Kovac in November last year on a three-year contract. Since then, Bayern have seen an impressive improvement.

It doesn't stop there. Striker Lewandowski also set a record. The Polish forward hit 40 goals for the fifth consecutive season when he put Bayern 1-0 up.

The Bundesliga's most prolific forward made no mistake with a penalty late in the first half. Previously Leon Goretzka was tackled by Neven Subotic in the 39th minute.

Lewandowski scored his 40th goal of the season in just 34 appearances in all competitions. Yes, this striker again proved his worth to the defending champions Germany.

Since netting a relatively modest 25 goals in his first season at Bayern in 2014-15, the Polish star has netted a streak of 42, 43, 41, 40 goals in a row. And last Sunday's penalty took him to another 40, and that will continue to grow as there are 8 games left in the competition. This does not include the German Cup and Champions League when it rolls over again.
