Controlling The Surge In COVID-19 Cases, The Government Is Asked To Consider The Lockdown

JAKARTA - The government is asked to consider a regional lock-down policy in controlling the spike in COVID-19 cases which has increased dramatically. The request was also proposed by a number of health experts to respond to positive cases, which reached 12,000 on Thursday, June 17.

Member of Commission IX of the House of Representatives, Netty Prasetiyani Aher, believes that the government needs to consider this input. This is because the implementation of a lockdown is one of the most accurate scenarios for controlling the virulent virus outbreak.

"The threat of COVID-19 is real and increasingly massive. Moreover, a new variant has been confirmed to enter Indonesia. The government needs to think about the possibility of imposing a total lockdown to control the spike in cases," said Netty to reporters, Friday, June 18.

In addition, the government must also supervise the implementation of health protocols in public places more strictly. So that people do not experience pandemic fatigue (tiredness of the pandemic).

"People can experience fatigue from the pandemic due to uncertainty when it will end, so they start not complying with the protocol to prevent the spread of the corona virus. This can be a dangerous situation," explained the PKS politician.

Therefore, Netty hopes that the government will not be careless and tired of monitoring the enforcement of health protocols to all levels of society.

"Massive socialization and education to the community must continue," concluded Netty.
