Operation Eradicating Thugs, 925 People Arrested In Banten
JAKARTA - A large-scale operation to eradicate thuggery is intensified by the police. This operation is carried out during the day and at night in locations that are allegedly prone to logging and illegal levies.
There were 925 people who were detained by the Banten Police and the ranks of thuggery operations in six Polres areas within 6 days.
Banten Regional Police Chief Inspector General Rudy Heriyanto said the thuggery operation was a follow-up to the Chief of Police's instructions.
"We will immediately clean up thugs and anyone who tries to make trouble in all jurisdictions of the Banten Police," said Rudy Heriyanto.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the Banten Police, Kombes Edy Sumardi, said that on the 6th day of the operation, there were 925 people consisting of 888 thuggery and 37 people who made illegal levies.
After previously successfully capturing 790 people, today the Banten Regional Police and Polres/ta ranks managed to capture 135 people, covering the following areas: 1. Banten Police: 5 people thuggery and 9 people extortion. Serang City Police: 14 people3. Cilegon Police: 18 people.4. Serang Police: 28 people.5. Tangerang Police: 38 people6. Pandeglang Police: 8 people7. Lebak Police: 15 people.
Edy also said that the actions taken varied, ranging from data collection, handed over to the Social Service, guidance to law enforcement if someone committed a violation.
"The guidance action taken is in the form of collecting data and submitting it to the social service, while until now there has not been any violation of criminal law, so there has been no legal action," said Edy Suma.
He explained that the pattern of operation was by prioritizing Preventive Strike and law enforcement for perpetrators who violated the crime.
This thuggery operation involved hundreds of joint personnel, consisting of the National Police, TNI, Regional Government and the community.
"The purpose of this control operation is to provide a sense of security for the community and to create a conducive kamtibmas in the Banten Police jurisdiction," said Edy Sumardi.
Kombes Edy Sumardi conveyed the Kapolda's message to all the Chiefs of Police and joint personnel and the public.
"Take firm action against thuggery perpetrators and increase prevention and law enforcement in handling thuggery in the Banten Regional Police jurisdiction. And to the public so that they do not hesitate to report if they find thuggery acts because there is no room for thuggery in the Banten Regional Police jurisdiction," he said.
"Use the 110 service at any time, we will immediately respond by deploying the apparatus," he said.
