Just Live, Scoob! Get A High Position In VOD

JAKARTA - After Trolls World Tour received benefits after being released via digital, the same luck was on Scoob !. After its release on May 15, Scoob! instantly ranked first in downloads on iTunes and Amazon Prime.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic made production houses think hard in releasing their films. Most of them still depend on the cinema. Moreover, United States President Donald Trump's statement that the cinema is the first business to be opened.

This step was taken because the cinema is one of the most profitable businesses, because it is considered cheap and entertainment is economical. That way, the production house will wait for Trump's decision which is considered to enlighten the world of film.

However, some production houses choose to release films digitally because they have to think of strategies to stay profitable in this kind of situation. Universal Pictures chose the safe path by releasing the Trolls World Tour which earns the equivalent of one month of viewing in theaters.

The choice of digital where the film will be anchored is not entirely seen as a good solution. AMC, the largest cinema chain in the United States, threatened not to screen Universal Pictures films because the production house chose to release the Trolls World Tour in digital rather than waiting for cinemas to return to normal.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. released the animated film Scoob! which is available for rent for 19 dollars and downloads for 24 dollars. Seeing the two production houses taking off Scoob! and the Trolls World Tour, they chose to release a family film that everyone could watch. Unfortunately the popularity of Scoob! critics did not receive a positive response because it was considered as failing to make this legend cartoon into an interesting spectacle.

Sonic the Hedgedog which was released to digital also ranked number 5 on the first day before ranking first.

Scoob! is Scooby Doo's first animated film where the Blue Falcon (Mark Wahlberg) recruits Shaggy (Will Forte) and Scooby (Frank Welker) to thwart Dick Dastardly (Jason Isaacs) from a dogpocalypse. Shaggy and Scooby also invite other Scooby gangs, namely Freddie, Daphne, Velma to solve this problem.

Scoob! filled by Will Forte, Mark Wahlberg, Jason Isaacs, Gina Rodriguez, Zac Efron, Amanda Seyfried, Kiersey Clemons, Ken Jeong, Tracy Morgan, and Frank Welker. Among the names, only Welker is an old player while the rest is filled by new actors and actresses.

Scoob! can be watched digitally through digital services such as Amazon Prime and iTunes since Friday, May 15.
