MAKASSAR - Makassar Mayor Moh Ramdhan Pomanto (Danny Pomanto) hosted the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno with celebrity and YouTuber Atta Halilintar aboard the legendary ship of South Sulawesi, Phinisi.

Sandiaga Uno, who wore a typical South Sulawesi headband, Patonro, was also greeted with the Gandrang Bulo dance by a number of children and other special dishes.
Sandiaga's visit to Makassar was part of a series of trips in South Sulawesi, after noon to the Rammang-rammang Geopark Area, Maros Regency.
In Makassar, Sandiaga Uno also launched the Makassar Jazz Festival which is an annual event in the area. This festival is expected to stimulate the tourism sector in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sandiaga Uno hopes that activities such as the Makassar Jazz Festival and others can revive the wheels of organizing activities that open up the widest possible job opportunities.
Head of the Makassar City Tourism Office, Rusmayani Madjid, said that the Makassar Jazz Festival had been held 12 times in Makassar City, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it had stopped.
"Alhamdulillah, the Makassar Jazz Festival is ready to be held again after being stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Makassar Jazz Festival will be held again while still complying with government regulations, namely health protocols," he said.
The promoter of the show, Yosi Nahwi Rasul, said that many jazz and pop musicians would be presented to entertain Makassar residents.
He explained that presenting pop musicians is part of educating the youth about the jazz music genre because quite a lot of people are not interested in the genre.
"When it comes to those circles, teenagers generally prefer pop and rock music. Therefore, we will educate them and introduce this genre of jazz by presenting musicians of other genres as well," he said.
