Calling Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Vice President Ma'ruf Asks For Strengthened State Budget Allocation For Papua Development Papua

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin summoned Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati to his official residence in Jakarta.

During the meeting, Vice President Ma'ruf asked Sri Mulyani to immediately strengthen the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) for development in Papua Province.

This was stated by the spokesman for the vice president, Masduki Baidlowi, in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Thursday, June 17.

"The development of Papua is funded by various ministries, institutions (K/L), non-ministerial governments. That is what must be consolidated. So, in the context of consolidation, the Vice President summoned the Minister of Finance," said Masduki.

Vice President Ma'ru hopes that the development process in Papua will start soon. This was also conveyed to President Joko Widodo to hold a limited meeting to discuss this issue.

"It will not be long before, at the end of June or early July, the Vice President will propose to the President so that there will be a limited meeting to consolidate and implement Papuan development based on the funds in the APBN," said Masduki

Previously, Vice President Ma'ruf had also summoned the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Polhukam) Mahfud MD regarding security conditions in Papua.

The discussion regarding the security situation in Papua also includes the hope of Vice President Ma'ruf, that development in Papua can be accelerated to realize the welfare of the people there.

Vice President Ma'ruf advised Mahfud that the acceleration program or quick win for the welfare of Papua could be implemented immediately.
