Will DKI Return To PSBB? The Answer Is 1-2 Days Ahead
JAKARTA - Today, DKI Jakarta recorded the addition of 4,144 new cases of COVID-19 today. There has been pressure for the DKI Provincial Government to re-implement large-scale social restrictions (PSBB).
Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said the ranks of the DKI Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) would decide on changes to the handling of COVID-19 in the next two days.
"In the near future, the Governor together with the Forkopimda ranks will see in the next 1-2 days, whether we continue to implement PPKM for the next 14 days, or are there other policies in the middle of 14 days," said Riza at DKI City Hall, Jakarta Center, Thursday, June 17th.
Riza said, since there was a spike in cases in the capital city, the DKI Provincial Government had taken three steps to suppress the spread of the corona virus. This is done in accordance with the direction of President Joko Widodo.
First, all ranks must go to the field as often as possible so that the handling of the pandemic can be implemented properly.
Second, ensure an increase in the use of masks for all Jakarta residents or other residents in Jakarta.
Third, seek to accelerate the implementation of vaccines per day so that it can reach 100 thousand and try to reach 7.5 million people who have been vaccinated by the end of August.
"So we continue to make efforts. Our task force is reactivated to the smallest level in RT-RT. In fact, in each house there are also family members as volunteers who provide information, make sure that their homes are clean, use masks to disinfect, ensure that everyone in the house is clean. parents and children under 9 years old do not leave the house," explained Riza.
In addition, DKI continues to seek various isolation facilities, including setting up guesthouses, sports halls, and other places. Then increase the number of health workers on a regular basis.
"So, we are serious about the fight against COVID, a very dangerous new variant that spreads quickly. For that, we ask the public to continue to implement health protocols, don't panic, and don't take it lightly," he said.
Jakarta's new COVID-19 cases reached 4,144 cases today. This figure is the second highest during the pandemic. Previously, the highest new cases occurred on February 7 with 4,213 cases.
Head of Disease Prevention and Control Division, DKI Jakarta Provincial Health Office, Dwi Oktavia said this figure was obtained from the examination of 23,913 specimens.
"As is known, the number of positive cases has recently been in the range of 1,000–2,000 cases a day. However, today, Thursday the number has jumped rapidly to reach 4,144 cases," said Dwi in his statement.
In detail, today there were 5 additional positive cases in the Thousand Islands, West Jakarta 824 cases, Central Jakarta 490 cases, South Jakarta 932 cases, East Jakarta 1,370 cases, and North Jakarta 523 cases.
