Exclusive Laura Basuki Defends Women Who Are Troubled When Asked When To Get Pregnant?

JAKARTA - Laura Basuki became the main player in the film When is Pregnant? which was worked on by the Dee Company production house, which had just started shooting last June 10. As the main player, there are several reasons that make Laura excited about filming.

"So before that I shot heavy films, biopic dramas. So when this film was offered, a drama with a comedian, I think this is a breath of fresh air to refresh from the previous film. And this is my first time working with Dee Company and Mas Rizal Mantovani is the director," said Laura Basuki when met by VOI in Cibubur, Jakarta, June 10.

In this film, Laura plays the role of Nadya, Alan's wife. "Nadya has been married for three years, has not been blessed with children. And as the title suggests, I am always asked when I am pregnant? Because of that question, they try to find a solution by consulting a doctor," he explained.

The story about a couple who has been married for a long time but never got pregnant, according to Laura, is very close to reality. "I think all married women will be asked when they are pregnant? And the question is always asked to the woman. The man has never been asked, when did he get pregnant?" said Laura.

Together with her husband, Leo Sandjaja, Laura herself waited four years after getting married before getting pregnant. Therefore, it was very easy for Laura to feel the challenge. "I was pregnant five years after getting married. I really know how it feels to be asked when I'm pregnant? So this film will be an entertaining film for all women who have experienced it," said Laura.

"Couples, if they have been married for a long time and have no children, tend to be blamed for their wives. What is often asked, when will you get pregnant? It's your wife. This film gives a picture that makes you happy. Being pregnant or not is a matter of husband and wife, not only the wife who should bear the burden ," he said.

Acting against Fedi Nuril, Laura admitted that she was enthusiastic about accepting Nadya's role in this film. "This is my third film with Fedi. It's fun working with him. He's a good person, he's funny when he jokes. So when you play with him, you don't have to work hard to get chemistry anymore because it's been obtained in my previous films," said the actor, Susi Susanti.

He hopes this film can entertain the public soon. "Hopefully it can be entertaining, because the preparation is quite long. Hopefully it can provide the best for the audience," he hoped.

Since the pandemic hit, this mother of one admitted that she was more protective when filming. "This is the fourth filming during the pandemic," he explained.

"When the pandemic first hit Indonesia, I was quite hopeless. We couldn't shoot at all. Filming involved a lot of people, a lot of crew. I think it will take a long time to shoot again," he recalled.

He was grateful that the hard times of not being able to shoot did not last long. After four months of completely stopping filming, Laura ventured to accept another offer of acting.

"It turns out that this can be circumvented. Film people are not at their wits end. We continue to apply strict protocols. Like today all cast and crew must be swabbed first so that everyone feels safe and comfortable. When set, they must also comply with health protocols," he stressed. .

As a mother, of course there is anxiety that outdoor activities will bring risks to children at home. Aware of this, Laura also strictly followed the protocol.

"At first I thought about taking a break from filming first. But how long? So I take care of myself as much as possible so that when I go home I'm safe, I don't bring the virus into the house. Whatever I do to keep it," he added.

When accepting the role, Laura also has her own considerations, not just accepted. "I see the people who work behind it all, the stories, the roles. I'm a person who really likes work. So if I feel like I've never played a role, I'll do it," he said.

The enthusiasm to continue working is in line with the rise of the Indonesian film industry during the pandemic. OTT and cinemas began to show the passion of the audience.

"I'm really happy that the film industry can move, not only cinemas, there are OTT now. All crews work because there are many platforms that can be worked on. Although slowly but still able to move on," he said.

The woman who was born in Germany, January 9, 1988, hopes that Indonesian films can continue to advance. "I hope Indonesian films can give something different again. Give new breath to the audience. Because everyone needs a spectacle. We as art workers want to always give the best," he explained.
