The Development Of The Zumi Zola Case, 4 Former Members Of The Jambi DPRD Named By KPK As Suspects
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named four former Jambi DPRD members as suspects in connection with the ratification of the Jambi Provincial RAPBD. The determination of this suspect is the development of a bribery and gratification case that ensnared former Jambi Governor Zumi Zola and other DPRD members.
"Observing the facts of the trial and supported by sufficient preliminary evidence so that the KPK raises it to an investigation and then on October 26, 2020 it is escalated to an investigation," said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Setyo Budiyanto in a press conference broadcast on the KPK RI YouTube, Thursday, 17 June.
The four former members of the Jambi Provincial DPRD for the 2014-2019 period who were named as suspects were Fahrurrozi (FR), Arrakhmat Eka Putra (AEP), Wiwid Iswhara (WI), and Zainul Arfan (ZA). They were detained in different detention houses, namely the KPK Rutan Kavling C1 and the KPK Rutan Red and White Building.
"Previously, 14 days of self-isolation will be carried out at the KPK Detention Center Kavling C1 as a fulfillment of health protocols for the prevention and spread of COVID-19 in the KPK Detention Center," explained Setyo.
The case began when elements of the Jambi DPRD leadership were suspected of asking for money. They hold a meeting to discuss this and ask for a share of the project and/or receive money in the range of Rp. 100 million or Rp. 600 million per person.
The elements of the Faction Leaders and the Commission in the Jambi DPRD were suspected of gathering members of the faction to determine their attitude regarding the ratification of the Jambi Regional Budget.
They receive money for the surrounding fractional faction in the range of Rp. 400 million to Rp. 700 million for each faction and/or receive money for individuals in the range of Rp. 100 million, Rp. 140 million or Rp. 200 million.
Meanwhile, the four suspects who sit on Commission III of the Jambi DPRD are suspected of receiving varying amounts. Setyo revealed that the suspect FR received Rp375 million; AEP received IDR 275 million; WI received IDR 275 million and ZA received IDR 375 million.
Setyo said that corruption in the political sector of this kind is mostly handled by the KPK and this is getting worse.
"This is of course a bad side for the democracy that we are running. The people's trust given to their representatives in the DPR or DPRD should not be misused to seek personal gain," he concluded.
