COVID-19 Cases Soar, MenPAN RB Tjahjo: Government Hasn't Decided On Lockdown

JAKARTA - Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (MenPAN RB) Tjahjo Kumolo emphasized that until now the government has not decided on the implementation of lockdown for government offices, following the surge in COVID-19 cases.

"Until today, the government has not made a decision regarding the development of the lockdown, especially in government offices," Tjahjo said in his statement, Thursday, June 17.

Nevertheless, Tjahjo admitted that he was ready to receive input from all stakeholders in the central and regional governments as well as non-government, in order to control COVID-19 in the country.

"But the policy for controlling COVID-19 in the government can be taken independently by ministries/agencies at the central and regional levels," explained the PDIP politician.

So far, the Kemenpan RB, said Tjahjo, has always coordinated with the Ministry of Health and the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) as the Task Force for Handling COVID-19 in Indonesia.

This coordination, he continued, is to observe any signs of development and dynamics in several red zone areas. Especially in DKI Jakarta, the number of cases positive for COVID-19 has increased sharply.

"The Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform is waiting to see what the decision will be and how it will go forward. However, the important thing is that ASN must remain productive, must remain healthy," said Tjahjo Kumolo
