Viral Police Cock Weapons, Kompolnas Call Can Tarnish Institutions

JAKARTA - The police with the initials GAP with the rank of Bripda went viral on social media because of their carrying while cocking their rifles. His action was criticized because he was seen as exemplifying bad actions as a member of the Police.

In the video recording uploaded by the @kapansarjana_ account on twitter, Bripka GAP also said 'Your boyfriend is handsome? Rich? Can this or not '. Then, the account also asked the National Police to advise him not to commit this act.

"Please, Mr. @DivHumas_Polri, tell the students of Njenengan, sir, you don't have to be arrogant to the people, your students, you are also paid by the people's tax money," wrote @kapansarjana_ as quoted on Friday, May 15.

Responding to the viral video, the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan, said that Bripda GAP had been examined by the Polda Metro Jaya Propam. As a result of the investigation, the young policeman admitted that he made the video just for fun.

"It has been checked by the Polda Metro Jaya Propam for clarification. Uploaded by Bripda GAP on Whatsapp status is just a joke, without sending it to anyone," Ahmad said in his statement, Thursday, April 14.

In addition, in the examination, Bripda GAP said that if he did not expect the video he made would go viral on social media. The making of the video was also mentioned when the young policeman carried out escort duties against a company charging money at an ATM on April 20, 2020.

"Bripda GAP didn't realize it, then the video went viral on social media with the first time the @kapansarjana_ account was uploaded on Twitter," said Ahmad.

However, Bripda GAP, who did not accept that the video was uploaded again and went viral, decided to report the @kapansarjana_di account to the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) Poengky Indarti said that the action of Bripda GAP was a disciplinary violation. Even though it was just pretending for fun, the act could tarnish the name of the National Police institution.

Thus, the appropriate steps for Bripda GAP were examined by the Propam Polda Metro Jaya. Moreover, his actions by uploading to his personal social media were very impressed with showing off.

"It must be understood that uniforms and institutional attributes reflect an institution that must be respected," said Poengky.

Regarding the decision of Bripda GAP to report the @kapansarjana_ account, said Poengky, it was his right. However, uploads from that account are not considered to unite the young policeman. However, it is more to give criticism so as not to act carelessly.

"The sender intended as a correction, so that the police did not show off, were not arrogant," said Poengky.
