BMKG: Beware Of Aftershocks And Potential Tsunamis Due To Underwater Landslides On Seram Island
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) appealed to people along the coast of Japutih to Apiahu beach, Seram Island, Maluku to stay away from the coast to be aware of the potential for aftershocks and tsunamis due to landslides to or under the sea. BMKG also continues to monitor the occurrence of aftershocks in that location.

The potential tsunami caused by the underwater landslide was the result of an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 that occurred on Wednesday, June 16 at 11.43.08 WIB at 3:39 South Latitude (LS), 129.56 East Longitude (BT) with a depth of 10 kilometers.
