Patients Soaring, Bekasi Regency Adds Two Hotels For COVID-19 Isolation
JAKARTA - The Bekasi Regency Government, West Java, has added two centralized isolation hotels for COVID-19 patients with no symptoms and mild symptoms following one hotel that was previously fully occupied.
"In total, there are three hotels that are centralized isolation locations for COVID-19 patients in the OTG category and with mild symptoms," said Deputy Spokesperson for the Bekasi District COVID-19 Task Force Masrikoh in Cikarang, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, June 16.
Masrikoh said that initially there was only one hotel, namely the Ibis Budget Cikarang Hotel with a capacity of 200 people, which became a centralized isolation location for COVID-19 patients in the area.
"Because it is currently full, we have decided to add two hotels, namely Hotel Citra Inn and Hotel Ibis Style. Meanwhile, each hotel accommodates 50 people," he said.
Deputy Chair of the Bekasi Regency COVID-19 Task Force, Commissioner Hendra Gunawan, said the occupancy rate of centralized isolation hotels was quite high due to the spike in coronavirus cases since last week.
Hendra said the three isolation hotels have now been filled with 286 patients out of a total capacity of 300 patients, with details of 200 people occupying the Ibis Budget Hotel, the remaining 86 at the Citra Inn and Ibis Style hotels.
"The Ibis Budget is full, while at Citra Inn and Ibis Style, from a total capacity of 100 people, only 14 rooms are left empty," he said.
The Bekasi Regency COVID-19 Task Force plans to add back to the centralized isolation capacity. Hendra also hopes for the contribution and assistance of donors as well as the role of the company's CSR in preparing this quarantine place to help the government.
Hendra revealed that the increase in COVID-19 cases in Bekasi Regency reached 400 percent after the 2021 Eid holidays. Before Eid, there were only 171, currently there are 904 active cases.
This spike in cases becomes priority attention. All parties including the government, TNI, Polri and other related elements must again increase 3T efforts, testing, tracing, and treatment.
"So after it was found that there were cases, they immediately sought close contacts, all of them were immediately tested. Then for treatment, the government provided 46 hospitals that became referrals for COVID-19 treatment plus three centralized isolation hotels," he said.
In addition to carrying out 3T, the government also continues to promote mass vaccination activities. The Bekasi Regency Government targets 2,000 doses per day and the Bekasi Metro Police targets a minimum of 1,000 doses per day.
"Now, only 3M or 5M must be carried out by the community. We will reactivate it so that the community is disciplined about health procedures, but we also ask people not to slack off and get tired of implementing health procedures," closed the Bekasi Metro Police Chief.
