Anti-Corruption Behavior Index Increases, KPK Hopes Prevention Efforts To Continue Massively

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released the Anti-Corruption Behavior Index (IPAK) 2020 with a total score of 3.88. Where there was an increase of 0.4 points compared to 2020 which recorded a score of 3.84.

In response to this, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) gave appreciation. Moreover, during the last four years the IPAK score which measures two dimensions, namely perception or assessment and experience has continued to increase.

"This increase should be appreciated. The trend of IPAK scores in the last 4 years is also known to continue to increase. In IPAK 2021 there will be an increase in Indonesian people's perceptions of anti-corruption values, especially in the family and community sphere, as well as related to other experiences," said Acting KPK Spokesperson Prevention Division Ipi Maryati in her written statement quoted on Wednesday, June 16.

Even so, Ipi highlighted a decline in the sub-dimension of people's perceptions and experiences in the public sphere, especially when accessing public services. One of them is marked by the increasing percentage of people who access public services and pay more than the provisions.

"IPAK 2021 is also still below the RPJMN target which sets a score of 4.03," he said.

Thus, this is a common challenge to encourage efforts to prevent corruption through improving the system that closes the gap for corruption in public services.

In addition, anti-corruption education to realize the state apparatus and society with integrity is also needed. This is what the Corruption Eradication Commission did through the Anti-Corruption Strengthening Program for State Administrators with Integrity (PAKU Integrity).

In this program, state officials and their partners are trained to build integrity in order to prevent corruption from the smallest scope, namely the family. "In an effort to build integrity, KPK encourages the role of the family to carry out the function of socializing integrity values such as honesty in the family," said Ipi.

Furthermore, he also said that public service is now a sector that gets more attention from the anti-corruption commission in addition to the natural resources sector, law enforcement, commerce, and politics.

Through the prevention supervision coordination program (korsupgah), continued Ipi, the KPK is encouraging the improvement of governance in local governments by using a monitoring center for prevention (MCP) measuring instrument, including the public service sector. Of course, this is in line with the 2021 IPAK which shows the most public access to regional public services.

"Similarly, the role of the Corruption Eradication Commission, which is part of the Stranas PK National Team, continues to encourage governance improvements through three focus areas of licensing and commerce, state finances, and law enforcement and bureaucratic reform," he said.

Thus, with this kind of corruption program, the awareness of public behavior will increase to reject gratification, bribery, extortion, and nepotism. "(This, ed) is also (hopefully, ed) more massively carried out by all stakeholders," he concluded.
