Ridwan Kamil Suspects COVID-19 Delta Variant From India Is In West Java
JAKARTA - The Governor of West Java, M Ridwan Kamil or Kang Emil, suspects that the spread of the new COVID-19 virus strain from India, or delta, has already existed in the West Java region.
"As of today, there is no data. My 'feeling' does exist (the Delta variant of COVID-19 in West Java), but we have to wait for it as a whole", said Kang Emil after the Committee Meeting for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19 and Regional Economic Recovery at the Makodam III/Siliwangi, Bandung City, reported by Antara, Tuesday, June 15.
Kang Emil said based on a report from the Ministry of Health, a new strain of COVID-19 virus from India or delta has been found in Central Java and DKI Jakarta.
"In Bandung, the genome is being tested, the results have not yet come out", he said.

Ridwan Kamil appealed to West Java residents to continue to apply the health protocols strictly in anticipation of the delta variant of the COVID-19 attack from India.
Kang Emil also appealed to West Java residents to remain calm in responding to the new COVID-19 virus strain from India or the delta and to remain disciplined in implementing the health procedures.
"Even if there is (Covid-19 Delta variant from India infecting West Java residents), the answer is the same, only the 5M process, discipline, and preparation because the lethality is not too high", said Kang Emil.
