COVID-19 Positivity Rate In Surabaya Rises, Because Of Bangkalan?
SURABAYA - Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi stated that the Covid-19 positivity rate in the city of Surabaya rose to 9 percent at the city level. Whereas before Eid, the COVID-19 positivity rate in the city of Surabaya was in the range of 5 percent or in a safe position.
"Well, when there is an increase from 5 percent to 9 percent in total in Surabaya, it means this is an alarm and a warning for us. We are a little careless, this is the fast departure (of the COVID-19 case), means we have to be careful, I have to warn correctly we must maintain health protocols," said Eri Cahyadi at Surabaya City Hall, Monday, June 14.
Because the positivity rate is increasing, the Surabaya City Government is responsive and moves quickly to anticipate it. One of them is by re-activating mass swab tests.
In fact, Eri admitted that he had agreed with the COVID-19 Task Force in Surabaya, starting with the Surabaya Police Chief, Tanjung Perak Port Police Chief and the Danrem to reactivate this mass swab test.
"So, later, not only in markets, malls where there are also crowds, we will also do a test. In fact, all places where there are crowds, including in our stalls will be tested. more obedient to the procedures, so that COVID-19 in Surabaya can be suppressed," he said.
Eri Cahyadi's statement has been proven to have been carried out. Since some time ago, the Surabaya City Government has continued to carry out swab hunters in various places, both in markets and in the center of crowds of residents. In fact, today the Surabaya COVID-19 Task Force conducted a swab test at the Atomic Market.
In this market, the COVID-19 Task Force conducted tests on the 5th floor parking lot and also in the food court. Store employees and shop owners as well as visitors did not escape the impromptu test.
"So, swab hunters, mass swabs, both in malls, in markets and crowds and in the Suramadu area, continue to be all together. This is important to do to suppress Covid-19 in Surabaya," he said.
In addition, Eri also mentioned the implementation of the curfew in Surabaya. According to him, based on a joint decision with the Police Chief and the Danrem, the Micro PPKM as well as the curfew must continue.
"When Mr. Kapolres and Mrs. Kapolres and Danrem gave directions not to (curfew activities), yes, we at the city government also said no, because we are still one voice. We are an inseparable part," he said.
Therefore, Eri Cahyadi reminded Surabaya residents to continue to maintain health protocols. In fact, he also asked not to underestimate this COVID-19 even though he had been vaccinated.
"I thank the residents, let's take care of our city together, always keep the health protocols. I also ask friends (media) to always remind and inform so that residents always maintain the health protocol," he said.
