Before 5G, Kominfo Asks Cellular Operators To Complete 4G Network BTS

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (Kemenkominfo) has issued a Certificate of Operation Eligibility (SKLO) for Indosat Ooredo to provide 5G services in the country.

In addition, the Minister of Communication and Informatics Johnny G Plate also asked cellular operators not to let the 4G network be neglected. Considering many areas such as 3T (Front, Remote and Disadvantaged) that have not experienced the internet network.

"So that there will be coexistence where 4G services for the national region and 5G initial commercial operation services for selected areas or areas are selected," said Johnny.

According to Johnny, the government will farm and refarm the frequency spectrum to enable more efficient 5G deployments. At the same time, it supports the use of 4G which is also increasingly optimal.

“This 5G development will change the way we fill our digital world, given its incredible low latency speed. Therefore, I hope that the deployment of 4G to support as the backbone of our digital transformation and the initial commercial operation of 5G can be utilized optimally, optimally and intelligently for the benefit of our country's development, and specifically for the benefit of our community development, "explained Johnny. .

Meanwhile, BAKTI Kominfo has also prepared the construction of 4G BTS network for 7,904 villages and sub-districts in the 3T area. This aims to narrow the digital gap with funding sources originating from the APBN.

The distribution of development sites is divided into 5 packages consisting of 9 areas, where the majority of the area is in Papua and West Papua. This step is also supported by Joint Operations (KSO) with Indonesian cellular operators through a tight selection which will end in July to August.
