Happens Again, Residents Positive For COVID-19 One Village In Garut

GARUT - Dozens of residents who have been confirmed positive for COVID-19 in one village have reappeared in Cisompet District, Garut Regency, West Java. The village was imposed with micro-scale social restrictions to prevent the spread of the virus.

The Head of Cisompet Sub-district Rahmat Alamsyah confirmed that there were residents in Panyindangan Village who were confirmed positive for COVID-19 based on the results of a swab test with no symptoms, so they had to undergo self-isolation at home.

"Currently, they are still self-isolating at home," said Rahmat, quoted by Antara, Monday, June 14.

He said that the finding of a positive case of COVID-19 in the village started with a resident who lost their sense of smell on Friday (11/6), then an examination was carried out by local health officials, Saturday, June 12

A total of 35 residents who underwent the examination, he said, were detected as having the COVID-19 outbreak as many as 26 people, then further examination was carried out until the final report became 29 people.

"There were 26 who were positive, then on Sunday we did a follow-up examination, so there were an increase of three people. In total there are now 29 people," said Rahmat.

He conveyed that all residents who were confirmed positive for COVID-19 immediately underwent self-isolation at their homes, and the plan was that the COVID-19 Task Force team would prepare the Panyindangan Village Sports Building to be used as a place of isolation.

"Until today no one has been referred to the hospital because the symptoms are still mild, we focus on the village because there are many incidents," added Rahmat.

In an effort to stop the transmission of the COVID-19 outbreak, Rahmat said, his staff will impose social restrictions in the village for 14 days under the supervision of the COVID-19 Task Force.

It was recorded that there were 98 heads of families or more than 200 people who were asked to stay in their villages by implementing health protocols to avoid transmission.

Rahmat said the government would prepare the needs of the people's life as long as social restrictions were imposed.

"It will be prepared by the village and district governments, because in case of a lockdown we have to fulfill the schedule, because their movement is restricted," he said.

The COVID-19 outbreak in Garut Regency is still happening, previously it was reported that dozens of residents in one village in Bungbulang District were confirmed positive for COVID-19 so they had to undergo isolation at the village hall and were taken to the hospital.
