Pollux Hotels Partners with Marriott to Expand Hospitality Market in Indonesia

PT Pollux Hotels Group Tbk has entered into a strategic partnership with Marriott International to strengthen its hospitality business and expand its hospitality market reach in Indonesia.

President Director of PT Pollux Hotels Group Tbk Handojo K. Setyadi said the collaboration combines Pollux's understanding of the local market with Marriott International's global network and standards.

"We see Marriott International for Indonesia, I think we can no longer doubt it. On the other hand, our Pollux Hotel Group has also been managing hotels so far. Our strength for the local market and the Indonesian market, we are very dominant," said Handojo in his statement, Friday, August 14, 2026.

According to Handojo, the synergy will strengthen Pollux's ability to meet the needs of the domestic market as well as international tourists.

"This is what we synergize so that the Pollux Hotel Group will certainly become one hotel market that can meet the needs of the community, both locally and internationally," he said.

In addition to expanding the market, the cooperation is also directed at the development of human resources (HR) in the hospitality industry. Handojo said Pollux has paid attention to local labor in the management of hotel businesses since the beginning.

"Since the beginning of the Pollux Hotel Group, we have been very concerned about local human resources. That's what we really pay attention to because we don't just manage hotels," he said.

The collaboration with Pollux is part of an effort to expand the reach of the hospitality business by combining the strength of management and understanding of the local market with Marriott's global network.

Meanwhile, Vice President of Hotel Development Asia Pacific Marriott International Ivan Widarmana said Indonesia is one of the important markets in Marriott's network expansion strategy.

According to Ivan, Marriott is not only targeting growth in major cities, but also sees opportunities in second and third tier cities in Indonesia.

"In 2013, when I joined the development team, our position at that time was 32 hotels, and now we have 88 hotels. From 88 hotels, I started to grow, seeing opportunities in Indonesia," said Ivan.

He said the expansion of Marriott's network to various regions was carried out to capture the potential for market growth while bringing the hotel network closer to consumers outside the main economic centers. Marriott has been operating in Indonesia since 1991. In developing its hotel network, the company relies on operational standards and training centers to maintain consistency in service quality in various regions.

This strategy is also supported by the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program. Ivan said the program now has about 300 million members globally, with about 2.5 million active members in Indonesia.

"If everyone in Indonesia will have a hotel that brings Marriott, it means they can use their loyalty wherever they go. Well, this is what makes us more interested in developing in Indonesia," he said.
