Houthi Group Launches 6 Ballistic Missiles at Yemen's Mokha Port

JAKARTA - The Houthi group launched six ballistic missiles towards the port of Mokha in Yemen, which is located on the Red Sea. Yemeni authorities condemned the attack.

"Houthi's actions targeting the port are tantamount to besieging and starving the free people of Yemen," said Colonel Majid Abdullah al-Nuzaili, spokesman for the internationally recognized Yemeni government military, quoted by CNN, Saturday, August 15.

Houthi Armed Forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree said the attack targeted Saudi military forces and weapons, as well as "military ships belonging to the proxy parties and their mercenaries" in Mokha.

Saudi Arabia has not commented on the attacks in Yemen.

The kingdom is facing an increase in attacks from the Houthi group, which also declared a blockade of the Bab al-Mandab Strait in the Red Sea on July 20.
