BMKG: Early Tsunami Warning Ended

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated that the tsunami early warning due to a magnitude 7.7 earthquake that shook East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Saturday morning had ended.

"The early warning of the tsunami caused by the 7.7-magnitude earthquake at 04.58 WIB has ended," said BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Director Wijayanto, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, August 15.

BMKG, he said, will continue to update the information.

"This is the latest information conveyed by the Indonesian tsunami early warning system, unless there is new information," said Wijayanto.

Previously, BMKG issued a tsunami early warning 1 after the initial earthquake was recorded at a magnitude of M7.0. At that time, the northern part of Ngada was in a state of alert with an estimated time of arrival of the tsunami at around 05.01 WIB.

Until 07.02 WITA, aftershocks continued to occur. The earthquake was felt throughout the island of Flores, part of the island of Sumba, Adonara and Solor.
