The Joint Team Focuses on 8 Hot Spots in the Bromo Area

JAKARTA - The Commander of the Korem 083/Baladhika Jaya Regional Forestry and Land Fire Management Sector, Colonel Inf Wahyu Ramadhanus Suryawan, said that the joint team deployed to handle forest and land fires (karhutla) in the Bromo Mountain area is now focusing on extinguishing in eight areas. hotspot as there are no new fire points.

Wahyu said that the eight hotspots or hot spots targeted for flooding or the cooling process of land affected by the fire were in the Probolinggo and Pasuruan Regency areas.

"The update of the situation that we have conveyed, there is no fire point that we have found. There are eight hotspots that we are aware of and are being cooled or watered, namely two around Seruni Point, Probolinggo, and six hotspots including the Pasuruan area," said Wahyu as reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 14.

He said that cooling was carried out at several hot spots to anticipate embers from the remaining burned vegetation that could trigger the emergence of fire.

In its implementation, he continued, cooling was carried out in two ways, namely from the ground by officers and air using a helicopter water bombing.

"Water bombing for today is planned to run six sorties," he said, but its implementation still depends on the weather conditions, especially the fog.

The joint team was also tasked with cleaning up the area that had been burned.

"Until now, officers are still scattered to monitor and search for the fire point, and direct monitoring from the air is also carried out," he said.

Then, a joint team was deployed to intensify socialization and education to the public and tourists to jointly prevent forest fires.

"This kind of activity will also be carried out in the next few days, namely patrolling to look for potential fire points, as well as providing socialization and education to the community," he said.

His party continues to coordinate with the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) regarding security and recommendations for reopening the tourist area.

"We will make recommendations to TNBTS to be able to open this tourist attraction if the condition is declared safe," he said.

The area of land affected by the Bromo forest fire was recorded at approximately 1,120.2 hectares until the 12th day of handling the fire.
