Minister of Law and Human Rights: The President's order is clear, the Asset Confiscation Bill will be expedited.

JAKARTA - Minister of Law (Menkum) Supratman Andi Agtas said President Prabowo Subianto had given a clear order, namely the enactment of the Bill on Asset Confiscation must be expedited.

"For the President, the order is clear to the Minister of Law to be expedited, but because this is the DPR's initiative proposal, we are waiting," said Supratman at the DPR building, Friday, August 14.

The government is monitoring the development of the discussion of the Asset Confiscation Bill, which is currently taking place in Commission III of the DPR. The law enforcement affairs commission is conducting a public trial and receiving input from various groups of people.

"I am confident that the DPR will immediately initiate a proposal and we are ready to discuss with the DPR," he said.

Regarding the government's view on the draft Asset Confiscation Bill, Supratman did not want to comment too early. The government, he said, is waiting for the discussion in the DPR to be completed first.

"I don't want to comment on the substance because the government must have its own attitude because the President's direction is clear to us, but we are waiting for the DPR's initiative proposal, then the government will discuss it together, including by the Ministry of Law," he said.

It is known that the Asset Confiscation Bill is included in the list of national legislation programs (prolegnas). The draft policy is being drafted by Commission III of the DPR.

In the past month, Commission III has routinely held public hearings by inviting various parties, including academics to legal practitioners.

Previously, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Saan Mustopa said his agency was trying to complete the Asset Confiscation Bill this year.

"This is a priority in 2026 and of course because this is a 2026 priority, we will try our best this year to complete it," said Saan at a press conference, Tuesday (14/7).

Saan denied the narrative circulating on the DPR's social media that rejected the ratification of the Asset Confiscation Bill. He emphasized that the bill was not removed from the list of Priority Prolegnas 2026.
