Jejak Bung Hatta Digarap Ulang, Rumah Pengasingan Jadi Museum hingga Film Disiapkan

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Culture has prepared a number of projects to care for Mohammad Hatta's historical traces. Bung Hatta's exile house and Sutan Sjahrir in Sukabumi will be pioneered into a museum, while a film about the proclaimer is also included in the production plan.

The plan was discussed by Minister of Culture Fadli Zon when he met Bung Hatta's family at his residence in Menteng, Jakarta, ahead of the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. Fadli was received by Meutia Farida Hatta and Halida Nuriah Hatta.

The visit on Thursday, August 13, also coincided with the series of commemorations of the 124th anniversary of the birth of Bung Hatta who was born on August 12, 1902.

"We are talking especially in the atmosphere leading up to the 81st anniversary of the proclamation of independence. Bung Hatta's figure is a dual figure with Bung Karno as the proclamator," said Fadli.

One of the preparations is the revitalization of the former Bung Hatta and Sutan Sjahrir detention houses on Jalan Bhayangkara, Sukabumi City. The building will be pioneered to become the Hatta and Sjahrir Exile House Museum.

The Ministry of Education also encourages Bung Hatta's rest villa in Megamendung to be designated as a National Cultural Heritage.

Preservation is not only targeting buildings. Fadli said the government is planning a film about Bung Hatta as part of a historical film production program.

"One of them is about Bung Hatta and of course there are many other things related to Bung Hatta's struggle that need to be known by the younger generation," he said.

During the meeting, Fadli also discussed plans to build a replica of the Proklamasi House which will function as a museum. He emphasized that the replica would not be built at the original location of the Proklamasi House, which is now the Proklamasi Monument area.

Fadli said the Ministry of Education and Culture wanted to work with the families of the proclaimers, national heroes, and pioneers of independence to preserve history while introducing these figures to the younger generation.

"We hope to synergize with the families of the proclaimer, national heroes, pioneers of independence, including figures who are very loyal to the interests of this nation and state," said Fadli.

The meeting was also attended by the Director of Film, Music, and Art Irini Dewi Wanti and the Director of History and Permuseuman Endah Budi Heryani.
