DPR: Fit and Proper Test Destry BI Governor Candidate Waiting for Prabowo Surprise

JAKARTA - The suitability and propriety test or Fit and proper test for Destry Damayanti as a candidate for Governor of the Bank Indonesia (BI) is still waiting for a presidential letter (surpres) from President Prabowo Subianto.

Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives has not set a schedule for the feasibility and suitability test for Destry who is proposed to replace Perry Warjiyo as BI Governor. The new schedule can be set after Commission XI receives an official assignment from the leadership of the DPR.

Deputy Chairman of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Muhammad Hanif Dhakiri, said his party was still waiting for the surprise delivery process from the leadership of the DPR.

"We'll just wait for the surprise," said Hanif, Thursday, August 13.

According to Hanif, the surprise regarding Destry's nomination is currently still on the table of the DPR leadership. After the letter was received and Commission XI received the official assignment, the fit and proper test stage will be determined.

"Formally, Commission XI is still waiting for the surprise and assignment to Commission XI through the DPR mechanism," he said.

Hanif explained that the surprise was the basis for Commission XI to continue the process of nominating the Governor of BI, including determining the schedule for the suitability and appropriateness test for Destry.

"After the surprise was received and assigned to Commission XI, we will determine the next stages, including the schedule for the fit and proper test," he said.

In addition to waiting for surprises and assignments, the implementation of the fit and proper test will also adjust the DPR agenda. Currently, the DPR is still entering the recess period so that the formal process of nominating the BI Governor will follow the parliamentary agenda after the recess period ends.

"Currently it is still a recess period, the formal process will certainly follow the agenda of the DPR after the recess," said Hanif.

Thus, Destry Damayanti has not been able to undergo a fit and proper test in the near future. Commission XI of the DPR is still waiting for a surprise from President Prabowo and an official assignment from the leadership of the DPR before determining the schedule for the suitability test for the BI Governor candidate.
