West Java Bapera Condemns Bekasi City DPRD Member's Statement Regarding Alleged Bullying at Galaxy Unity School

KOTA BEKASI - Chairman of the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the Nusantara Youth Front (Bapera) West Java, Raden Andreas Nandhiwardana, regretted the statement of one of the members of the Bekasi City DPRD who threatened to take firm action following the alleged bullying case at the Unity School Galaxy, South Bekasi.

Andre emphasized that statements by DPRD members in the public space related to the issue of bullying at the Unity School of Galaxy, should be based on factual data and real conditions in the field so as not to trigger commotion or hurt public confidence. Moreover, if the issue raised is related to sensitive problems.

As one of the guardians of students from the Unity School of Galaxy, Andre said that the statement of the Bekasi City DPRD member could trigger unrest for students and potentially create a negative perception that the Unity School of Galaxy school is not safe for its students.

"The DPRD should investigate first before making statements in the media. In addition, at the Galaxy Unity School there are certainly CCTV. And we believe that the school will also cooperate in uncovering the case that resulted in the bully," Andre told reporters in Bekasi City, Thursday, August 13, 2026.

Andre emphasized that as a representation of the people's voice, every word of which carries the weight of the institution, criticism or responses submitted by DPRD members should be based on the results of objective supervision, not assumptions alone.

Andre also admitted that he was ready to take legal action against the statement of one of the members of the Bekasi City DPRD, which was considered to be detrimental to the school's good name and could create unrest for teachers and students who are currently still active in learning activities.

"Because if this problem is not immediately straightened out, it will become a bad precedent for the education world in Bekasi City," said Andre.

Meanwhile, responding to the news on social media platforms and online news related to the widespread bullying allegations in the news, the Unity School of Galaxy conveyed several points:

1. That the school has a Violence Prevention and Management Team (TPPK) which shows that the school has concerns about anti-bullying issues and is an effort by the school in long-term prevention.

2. That this Violence Prevention and Management Team (TPPK) consists of Counselors, Vice Principal of the Student Association, and Student Association Coordinator.

3. That after knowing the issue of alleged bullying, the school ordered the Violence Prevention and Management Team (TPPK) consisting of counselors, vice principal of the boarding school, and the boarding school coordinator to investigate the incident.

4. That the results of the investigation by the Prevention and Handling of Violence Team (TPPK), the Head of School and the Head of Academic have continued to communicate with the parents of the students, have provided assistance to the two students, and have carried out a joint evaluation.

The results of the Prevention and Handling of Violence Team (TPPK) are as follows:

a. After checking the truth through CCTV footage in the classroom, it was found that the students were playing before the start of the learning hours and during the break.

b. That both parents of the student have also conducted mediation to reach a resolution of the problem.

c. That there is a Statement from the Parents of the students involved in this incident stating that it has been resolved and does not request the implementation of further mediation.

d. That after the investigation, the event did not meet the criteria for bullying by students of the Unity School Elementary School.

e. That until this press release was issued, the two students had returned to studying and playing together at school.

5. That we have provided information and clarification to the Bekasi City Education Office as a form of openness and accountability of the Institution.

6. That the school expresses its appreciation for the community's concern for Unity School and is committed to always prioritizing safety and comfort in the learning process, as part of the school's values and motto.

7. That the commitment of the School is to strengthen the anti-bullying and violence program as a long-term prevention step.

The school also expressed its gratitude to all levels of society, the Bekasi City DPRD, the Bekasi City Government through the Education Office, the KPAD of Bekasi City, and the Parents of Students who have provided input.
