Prabowo Talks Big Projects, but Warns Government Not to Forget the Small Ones

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto said the government would still inaugurate many strategic projects to encourage Indonesia to become a modern and developed country. However, he reminded that large-scale development should not make the basic needs of small communities neglected.

Prabowo conveyed this when he inaugurated 3,395 TNI-Polri bridges and 3,000 TNI AD clean water sources hybridly from the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, August 13.

"There are many more projects that I will inaugurate. Brilliant projects, strategic projects, projects that make Indonesia a modern, advanced country, a prosperous country," said Prabowo.

He said national development also requires large amounts of investment.

However, according to Prabowo, the government must still pay attention to the needs of people in villages and remote areas.

"Maybe we can do more brilliant projects. We need massive investment. But we just understand and we must always understand that the state must be present for the most remote people," he said.

Prabowo gave an example of a simple problem that directly impacts the lives of residents, such as access to bridges and clean water sources.

Some people previously had to walk for hours because of difficult access. In other areas, residents have difficulty getting water.

According to Prabowo, the construction of thousands of bridges and water sources shows that these basic needs should not be missed in the midst of a larger development agenda.

"We have achieved very big things. But today is proof that even though our ideals are big, our plans are big, but we must not forget the small ones," he said.

Prabowo emphasized that residents who are far from the center of big life must also enjoy a good quality of life. He called the construction of thousands of bridges and clean water sources as a form of the state's presence for the community.
