SAR Team Still Looking for 5 Victims of the Burning of the KMP Putri Yasmin who Disappeared

MATARAM - The search and rescue (SAR) operation for victims of the KMP Putri Yasmin passenger boat fire incident in the waters of the Lombok Strait, West Nusa Tenggara continues.

"The Joint SAR Team is now focusing on the search for the five passengers who are reported to have not yet been found," said Head of the Mataram SAR Office, Muhamad Hariyadi, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 13.

The Mataram SAR Office together with the Denpasar SAR Office expanded the search area by deploying the main tools in the form of KN SAR Arjuna and RIB 02 Mataram. The search was carried out from the location of the incident towards the southwest. In addition, it also carried out pemapelan (broadcast information/appeal) to ships passing around the waters of the Lombok Strait.

"As of Thursday (13/8), the total number of victims who have been successfully evacuated is 212 people, with 211 people alive and 1 person dead," he explained.

This SAR operation involves synergy from various parties, including Basarnas (Mataram SAR Office & Denpasar SAR Office), Mataram Naval, NTB Police, KSOP Lembar, KKP Lembar, KP3 Lembar, Mataram City Hospital, NTB Provincial Hospital, Dikes West Lombok, Jasa Raharja, SGi Air Bali, and other joint SAR elements.

Hariyadi, stated that parallel steps continue to be carried out both through the movement of the flow on the water surface and coordination with shipping traffic around the location.

"In addition to direct searches, we also instruct the planning to ships that pass through the Lombok Strait to provide initial assistance or immediately inform the post if they find victims," he said.
