1,753 City Government ASN Ready To Become Foster Parents Of MBR Children In Surabaya
SURABAYA - A total of 1,753 ASN became foster parents and took care of as many as 2,416 foster children from low-income communities (MBR). Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi previously issued an appeal for ASN to become foster parents for children from the MBR community.
Eri Cahyadi emphasized that he did not want Surabaya children to drop out of school even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic that affected the residents' economy. Therefore, he appealed to all his employees to participate in the educational scholarship program, namely by becoming foster parents for children from low-income families.
"Alhamdulillah, until today, there have been 1,753 employees who have become donors. They will take care of 2,416 foster children from the low-income families. This number will continue to grow over time," said Eri Cahyadi in his office, Monday, June 14.
According to him, the donors or employees of the Surabaya City Government will set aside their income of Rp. 125,000 per month, and it will be valid for 3 years or until the child graduates from school.
"This is the zakat of our income. You can imagine if this was put together to help foster children, surely they would be greatly helped in the midst of this pandemic," he said.
Through this program, Eri Cahyadi claimed to want to foster a sense of mutual cooperation and continue to cultivate a sense of love for others. Therefore, this program started from the ASN environment in the Surabaya City Government, including Mayor Eri Cahyadi.
"This mutual cooperation and love will be the beginning of the revival of a city and a country," he said.
For Eri Cahyadi, if a high sense of mutual cooperation and love is realized, then various problems in the city of Surabaya will be overcome.
"Fainsyallah can solve various problems in Surabaya. This is what we are doing today," he said.
In addition, Eri Cahyadi explained that this foster children program actually existed before and had collaborated with several companies that provided CSR. For him, in building a city, all stakeholders must involve, he is aware that the government cannot run alone.
"Alhamdulillah, when all the stakeholders become one part, we convey that all the problems of the City of Surabaya can be overcome, because all of them are here to help Surabaya. And that's what I always say that the presence of all these stakeholders is the success of a city," he said.
