Gowa DPRD Meeting Discusses the Dismissal of Regent Husniah Memanas, Interrupted by Interruptions

GOWA - The plenary session of the Regional Representative Council (DPRD) of Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, which discussed the proposal to dismiss Gowa Regent Sitti Husniah Talenrang was colored by many interruptions, Wednesday, August 12.

The hot atmosphere with many interruptions occurred after Husniah Talenrang delivered a response in front of Gowa DPRD members. A number of participants in the session shouted until the atmosphere in the plenary meeting room heated up.

The meeting, which started at around 10.35 Wita, had previously run smoothly. The seven factions of the Gowa DPRD, which are all factions in the regional parliament, agreed to use the right to express their opinions as part of the process of proposing the dismissal of Husniah.

The agenda of the plenary meeting was the presentation of the attitude of each faction towards the results of the Special Committee (Pansus) Hak Angket which previously recommended the use of the right to express an opinion against the Gowa regent.

In the process of the petition right, Husniah was asked for information regarding a number of issues that were in the spotlight of the Gowa DPRD.

Among them are allegations of corruption in the procurement of free school uniforms worth Rp. 16 billion, the revocation of scholarship assistance for doctoral programs for one of the students, as well as alleged infidelity and immoral actions which are considered related to violations of the oath of office.

After all factions conveyed their attitudes, the head of the Gowa DPRD gave Husniah the opportunity to respond as the head of the region to the decision of the plenary meeting.

Husniah then stood on the pulpit and delivered a fairly long statement regarding the problem that entangled him.

On that occasion, he also played a voice recording from his son containing a message for him to remain patient in facing the process taking place in the Gowa DPRD.

The presentation then triggered interruptions from a number of DPRD members. They assessed that the forum that took place was a plenary meeting with the agenda of delivering responses, not a forum to clarify the matter that had previously been discussed in the Hak Angket Sub-Committee.

The situation in the meeting room was getting hotter. A number of DPRD members asked the participants involved in the riot to calm down.

"This moment of clarification has passed, please calm down," shouted a number of DPRD members when there was a commotion in the back of the trial and the 2nd floor of the plenary meeting room.

The statement shows that some members of the DPRD consider that the opportunity to provide clarification on the issues that are the basis of the right to inquiry has been carried out at the previous stage.

In the midst of an atmosphere that is not entirely conducive, Husniah also asked that the commotion be stopped. "Already, quiet," said the regent of Gowa when the trial atmosphere was chaotic.

The riots occurred after all factions of the Gowa DPRD expressed their attitude regarding the use of the right to express opinions against Husniah. The agenda was part of the Gowa DPRD's political process for the results of the Pansus Hak Angket which had discussed a number of issues related to regional heads.

With the agreement of the right to express an opinion by seven factions, the process of proposing the dismissal of Gowa Regent Sitti Husniah Talenrang continues to the next stage according to the applicable mechanism.
