Erick Thohir Thanks Prabowo for Transforming the Sports Ministry
JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir expressed his gratitude to President Prabowo Subianto for the trust and freedom of action given to the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) to carry out bureaucratic transformation.
Erick, in Jakarta, Wednesday, said the President's direction to carry out bureaucratic reform continued to be carried out by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The improvement, he continued, began to show results through the improvement of the ministry's performance.
According to Erick, the assessment of the transformation of the Kemenpora bureaucracy reached 83 percent which means there has been an improvement compared to before.
He also expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform which continued to accompany the improvement process.
"Now the assessment has reached 83 percent. Of course, it is not the final target and we will continue to improve it even though it is much better than before," he said.
In addition to bureaucratic transformation, Erick said the Ministry of Youth and Sports had again obtained a Wajar Tanpa Pengecualian (WTP) opinion from the Financial Audit Agency (BPK).
"Alhamdulillah, we have again obtained WTP. That is a positive thing for the efforts to improve the governance of the Ministry of Youth and Sports," he said.
Erick also said that the follow-up to the BPK findings in the Ministry of Youth and Sports had reached 81 percent, higher than the average of other ministries and agencies which were said to be at 76 percent.
However, he emphasized that this achievement has not made the Ministry of Youth and Sports complacent because accountability for the use of state finances must continue to be improved.
"If possible, we will continue to push the accountability for state finances to a much higher figure," said Erick.
According to him, the achievement of bureaucratic transformation and WTP opinion is two indicators that the improvement of governance in the Ministry of Youth and Sports environment is beginning to show results.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports will also strengthen the implementation of the procurement and budgeting system to ensure that budget management is increasingly transparent and accountable.
Erick emphasized that all budgeting processes must be carried out openly so as not to provide room for misuse of state funds.
