Polda Metro Jaya Exhumation of Sutrimo's Tomb in Banyumas

JAKARTA - The Metro Jaya Regional Police (Polda) exhumed or dismantled Sutrimo's tomb at the Bantaragung Cemetery, Wlahar Village, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, for the purpose of investigating the death of the deceased.

Sutrimo is the head of the household (karumga) of the former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah.

The exhumation was carried out after the family reported Sutrimo's death to the Banyumas City Police (Polresta) on Saturday (8/8) because in recent times there have been conflicting news regarding the cause of death even though the family had previously forgiven him. The report was then forwarded to the Polda Metro Jaya.

When giving a press statement before the exhumation at the Bantaragung Cemetery, Wlahar Village, Wangon District, Banyumas, Wednesday (12/8), Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, said the exhumation was part of the investigation process carried out together with the Central Java Police and Banyumas Police.

"Today (12/8) there are three stages of activities, the first is the implementation of the exhumation of graves or more commonly known as exhumation," he said as quoted by ANTARA.

According to him, the next stage is an external examination of the body to confirm the identity, then an examination of the inside of the body.

The examination was carried out by a joint team of forensic doctors from the Perhimpunan Dokter Forensik Medikolegal Indonesia (PDFMI) Jaya, Central Java, and East Java.

Kombes Budi said there were two public reports related to the case, namely a report at the Bareskrim Polri and a report from the deceased's family at the Banyumas Police.

He emphasized that the family had officially given permission and blessings for the exhumation to be carried out to find out the medical history and findings that could help reveal the cause of Sutrimo's death.

"We also invite all people to give space, space for empathy to the deceased's family," said Budi.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of PDFMI, Brigadier General Sumy Hastry Purwanti, said the examination was carried out comprehensively by involving a number of experts, including from the Forensic Laboratory, the UI and Unair Psychology Laboratory, DNA experts, and anatomical histopathology experts.

According to him, all the results of the examination and laboratory will be used to determine the manner and cause of Sutrimo's death, including determining whether the death is natural or unnatural.

He said the condition of the land around the tomb, which was relatively dry and good, was estimated to minimize difficulties in the exhumation process.

"The process is that we take samples, we do not immediately declare what it is, we may wait for the results," he said.

The results of the initial examination may be known on Wednesday (12/8) afternoon, while the overall laboratory results take longer.

Regarding the condition of the body, which has been buried for more than 10 days since his death on July 23, 2026, he said that the process of decomposition was confirmed to have occurred.

However, he said, the dry condition of the tomb environment is expected to help the team obtain the necessary findings.

"We hope that we get it because the environment is dry and good. But can it still be guaranteed, can it still be detected if Sutrimo dies unnaturally, that's why we wait for the results," he said.

Hastry said that the internal examination was carried out thoroughly by examining all the organs of the body to obtain findings that support the investigation process.

Previously, Sutrimo was found unconscious in front of a clinic in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on July 23, 2026.

After being evacuated to Muhammadiyah Hospital Taman Puring, Sutrimo was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
