GANNAS Soroti Modus Narkoba Lewat Vape, Minta Jawa Barat Perkuat Pencegahan

JAKARTA - The National Anti-Drug Movement or GANNAS DPW West Java asks that drug prevention not only be imposed on the police and the National Narcotics Agency. Local governments, families, schools, and community leaders are asked to take action because the modus operandi of drug abuse continues to develop.

Chairman of GANNAS DPW West Java Todi Ardiyansyah Prabu said drugs were not only a matter of law enforcement, but also concerned the future of the younger generation.

"Drugs are not only a legal issue, but a matter of the future of the nation. Therefore, we must not allow the younger generation to become victims. GANNAS DPW West Java will continue to encourage public awareness and invite all elements of the nation to work together against drugs," said Todi in a written statement received Tuesday, August 11.

GANNAS also appreciated the joint operations of the West Java Police, BNNP West Java, Kogartap II/Bandung, Customs and BPOM at a number of nightclubs.

Razia was also carried out by the West Java Police together with the TNI and the police on August 8-9, 2026. At least 15 nightclubs were inspected, including a number of locations in the Jalan Buahbatu area, Bandung.

During the raid, three people in the initial examination were suspected of consuming certain hard drugs, including alprazolam and tramadol. The police then conducted further examinations and urine tests.

Todi assessed that enforcement should be accompanied by education and prevention. He encouraged the Governor of West Java, the government in 27 regencies and cities, religious figures, academics, artists, artists, cultural figures, entrepreneurs, educators and communities to disseminate anti-drug education.

Attention is also directed to the misuse of vape as a medium for introducing prohibited substances into the body.

The RTM News Portal said that the Royal Malaysian Police in 2026 warned of vapes that were mixed with synthetic drugs, synthetic cannabis and new psychoactive substances.

Data from the Malaysian Health Minister recorded 402 vape cases involving liquids or devices containing drugs until April 2026. Substances found include benzodiazepines, MDMA, cannabinoids including THC, and methamphetamine.

GANNAS emphasized that the findings do not mean that every vape user uses drugs. However, the emergence of this modus shows that the pattern of substance abuse continues to change and needs to be watched out for.

According to Todi, prevention must start from the family, school, workplace to the community environment. Education needs to be carried out continuously so that the community is able to recognize the risks, dare to refuse, and report drug abuse.

GANNAS also links the threat of drugs with the quality of West Java's human resources. BPS recorded West Java's Human Development Index in 2025 reached 75.90, up from 74.92 in 2024.

Todi assessed that these achievements need to be maintained by ensuring that young people do not fall into drug abuse.
