The number of victims of the Colombian earthquake increased to 224 people

JAKARTA - The number of deaths due to an earthquake that shook Colombia on Monday (10/8) increased to 224 people.

Previous reports said 169 people were killed in the disaster. Colombian authorities declared a national disaster status after the 7.4-magnitude earthquake occurred.

President of Colombia Abelardo de la Espriella instructed the government and local military leaders to ensure the distribution of the necessary resources to the disaster-affected areas.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 struck Colombia on Monday morning (10/8), with the epicenter located near the city of San Jose del Palmardi in the Choco Department.

The earthquake tremors were also felt in most parts of Colombia as well as neighboring countries.
