Colombian Earthquake, 188 People in Valle del Cauca Reported Missing

JAKARTA - Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella has confirmed that at least 188 people in the Valle del Cauca Department (Cauca Valley) have been reported missing after a strong earthquake hit the country, according to a BluRadio media report on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, in the city of Cali, at least 883 people sought medical help, said Cali City Health Secretary German Escobar.

"Currently, 883 injured people are being treated in the hospital network," Escobar said on the X platform.

At the same time, three medical facilities were forced to close due to infrastructure damage, added Escobar.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 struck Colombia on Monday morning (10/8), with the epicenter located near the city of San Jose del Palmar, Choco Department.

The earthquake tremors were also felt in most parts of Colombia as well as neighboring countries.

The number of fatalities has reached 132 people, while more than 800 people have been injured.
