Iran: AS Jadikan Sanksi Ekonomi Pilihan Saat Diplomasi Gagal

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Esmail Baghaei said the United States (US) uses economic sanctions when it is unable to carry out diplomacy, and this has become a habit and dependence.

"The US Treasury Secretary prides himself on his efforts to 'stifle' Iran through economic sanctions. Beyond the exaggerated impression it creates, this claim is a clear proof of America's compulsive dependence on sanctions. Whenever Washington proves incapable of carrying out diplomacy, they return to using sanctions; and whenever sanctions fail to produce results, they only increase the dose," Baghaei said via X as reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Tuesday, August 11.

"This is no longer a 'policy' - it is a 'habit'; and more dangerously, it is an addiction that has replaced thinking itself," he continued.

Baghaei said Iran for decades has shown the country cannot be crippled by such measures.

He also warned American politicians by maintaining this habit, they can "choke their last chance to get out of the crisis they created themselves in a way that is not too embarrassing."

Previously, US President Donald Trump announced that he had canceled an attack on Iran as a peace deal that includes the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and an agreement on the nuclear program drew closer.

Iran's Foreign Ministry said Iran and Oman had agreed on the geographical details of the route that ships would take to cross the Strait of Hormuz.
