The Mayor Deactivated the East Medan Sub-district Head due to the Collection of Placement of Positions

MEDAN - The Medan City Government has temporarily deactivated the East Medan Sub-district because of alleged abuse of authority in the process of placing positions in the local government.

Head of the Medan City Human Resources Development and Personnel Agency Subhan Fajri said the temporary assignment release was a form of the city government's commitment to maintaining the integrity of the apparatus.

"This is also in realizing a clean, professional, accountable and free from abuse of authority government administration," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 10.

Subhan said the temporary release was determined through the Mayor of Medan Letter Number 80.0.1.6.2/13035.K regarding temporary release from the duties of the post as the Head of East Medan, Medan City.

In the letter, he said, the policy aims to facilitate the process of examining the imposition of disciplinary punishment for the person concerned.

"The temporary release of the person concerned as the Head of East Medan Fnd is effective from August 10, 2026," he said.

According to him, the policy of the Mayor of Medan is a follow-up to the report of the results of the inspectorate audit regarding a special audit related to alleged abuse of authority by ASN on the placement process of positions in the Medan City Government environment.

"The special audit was carried out by the Medan City Inspectorate in handling public complaints related to alleged abuse of authority in the process of placing positions in the Medan City Government environment which was carried out by the person concerned when he served as Acting Head of Medan Amplas," he said.

He added, based on the results of the Medan City Inspectorate audit number 700.1.2.1/138.6/INSP/2026 as of July 30, 2026, concluded that the person concerned when serving as Acting Head of Medan Amplas District misused his authority by promising to manage the placement of positions in the Medan City Government by asking and receiving a certain amount of money.

Based on the results of the audit, the Medan City Inspectorate recommends to the Mayor of Medan to order the Head of the Human Resources Development and Development Agency to form an Ad Hoc Inspection Team to process the imposition of disciplinary punishment against the person concerned by considering the heavy disciplinary punishment.

"Following up on the recommendations. We formed an Ad Hoc inspection team and carried out the stages of inspection in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations regarding PNS discipline," he said.

He emphasized that the temporary release was not a disciplinary punishment set by the local city government to the person concerned.

The temporary release of duties is to support the smooth process of the examination which is currently being carried out by the inspection team that has been formed.

"The decision on the type of disciplinary punishment will be imposed after all stages of the examination have been completed," he said.
