PAM Jaya Tightens K3 Culture, 7,000 Kilometer Pipeline Network Project Becomes a Big Challenge
JAKARTA - The scale of the development of the PAM Jaya pipeline network, which continues to be rushed until 2029, has major consequences, namely the risk of work in the field also increases. Therefore, the company emphasizes that occupational safety and health (K3) must not stop as an administrative rule, but must become a habit in every job.
PAM Jaya held a socialization and commitment to occupational safety and health (K3) with the ranks of commissioners, directors, and partner companies involved in construction and operational work. This activity is an effort to strengthen safety supervision in the midst of increasing infrastructure development activities.
PAM Jaya Strategy and Business Director, Anugrah Esa, said that various incidents that had occurred in the field were a reminder that the implementation of K3 required the attention and discipline of all parties.
"Therefore, the implementation of K3 should not be seen as merely an administrative obligation, but must become a work culture that is consistently carried out in order to protect workers, maintain public safety, and ensure the sustainability of services to customers," said Anugrah in his statement, Monday, August 10.
PAM Jaya is currently accelerating the construction of infrastructure to pursue the target of 100 percent pipe service coverage by 2029. The challenge is even greater because some of the existing pipe networks have been in existence for more than a century, so that work in the field has its own level of complexity.
PAM Jaya's Technical Director, Akhmad Santika, said the company would build around 7,000 kilometers of new pipe networks to complement the network, which currently has reached around 13,000 kilometers.
According to him, the size of the project must be followed by stricter supervision of K3, including for partner companies involved in the work.
"Future network development work will be more massive. Therefore, the implementation of K3 SOP must be the main concern in every job. PAM Jaya is also developing a system to monitor field work to strengthen supervision of all partners. In the future, the identity of the partner will be listed on the PPDU standard and the barrier at each work location so that accountability is clearer. Safety is a shared responsibility, so all partners must have the same concern about the implementation of K3 without exception," said Santika.
In addition to strengthening supervision, PAM Jaya also encourages protection for workers who carry out risky activities in the field. The company ensures that the safety aspects of workers are part of the project implementation, not just a complement in the work document.
PAM Jaya President Commissioner, Prasetyo Marsudi, asked all partners to have the same standard of concern for safety. According to him, involvement in the PAM Jaya project means participating in safeguarding the interests of the community as customers.
"Therefore, every job must be carried out safely, orderly, responsible, and prioritizing compliance with the established occupational safety standards," he said.
The activity was closed with the signing of a joint commitment by partner companies. This step is an affirmation that every construction and operational work of PAM Jaya must run with the same safety standards, in line with the big target of expanding piped water services in Jakarta.
