Mojtaba Khamenei Nominates Mohsen Rezaei as Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council

JAKARTA - The Supreme Leader of Iran Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, appointed Mohsen Rezaei as the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the country.

Rezaei is a senior Iranian military adviser and former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Referring to Rezaei's "valuable experience", Khamenei described him as the pioneer of the "Holy Defense" that lasted eight years - Iran's designation for the Iran-Iraq War of 1980-1988.

"I wish you success in carrying out this important responsibility," the decree read, as reported by CNN, Monday, August 10. Khamenei also expressed his gratitude to Zolghadr for his "tireless efforts."

Over the weekend, state media published a list of Zolghadr's demands that included lifting the US naval blockade, withdrawing military forces, and permanently ending the war.
