Hundreds of Joint Officers Still Standing Guard at Mount Gede Pangrango

JAKARTA - The Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park Headquarters recorded that around 150 joint officers and volunteers are still trying to put out the fire that burned land in the Wadon Gunung Gede crater with an increasing area of burned land.

The spokesman for the TNGGP Headquarters, Ade Bagja, when contacted in Cianjur, West Java, Sunday, said that on the second day of handling, the number of officers and volunteers who came to help extinguish the land that continued to spread, especially in the Wadon crater area.

The joint team consisting of TNI/Polri, Damkar Cianjur, BPBD Cianjur, and dozens of volunteers from various organizations and individuals continue to try to put out the fire that burned about six hectares of land, manually.

"The obstacle to the blackout is due to the difficult location to reach, coupled with the many dry trees that are easily flammable, making it difficult for officers and volunteers, for the exact data we are still waiting," he said.

Regarding the cause of the fire based on the results of the initial investigation, it is suspected to be due to natural factors. The grass and trees that are drying out are burning due to the high temperature in the Wadon crater, which ignited the fire.

Before the fire occurred, there was no human activity in the area. To ensure, his party is still waiting for reports from officers and teams in the field who are still trying to put out the fire.

"It is likely that the fire in the Wadon crater is due to natural factors, the hot temperature burns the dry grass so that it spreads to other trees and plants, but this will be investigated by officers," he said.
