Pramono Anung Uncovers JPO "Love-Hate Relationship" in Kuningan

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has decided to dismantle one of the two Pedestrian Crossing Bridges (JPO) located in the Jalan HR Rasuna Said area, Kuningan, South Jakarta.

The old JPO was previously widely discussed on social media and dubbed the JPO "Love-Hate Relationship".

"After I discussed it with the Head of the Road Construction Service with the Mayor of South Jakarta, the Transportation Service, and also with the Information and Communication Service, I have decided that one JPO will be dismantled," said Pramono after visiting the JPO in the Jalan HR Rasuna Said area, Kuningan, South Jakarta, Sunday, as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, August 9.

Pramono conveyed the decision after directly reviewing the conditions of the two JPOs together with related parties. Both facilities had previously come under scrutiny because of their proximity, but were not connected to each other.

From the results of the review, Pramono said the two JPOs have similar functions, namely to help people cross while providing access to public transportation facilities, including Light Rail Transit (LRT) services.

However, the two JPOs have differences in terms of age and design. One of them is an old facility built by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, while the other JPO is a newer facility and is related to the integration of LRT and KAI services.

"The one made by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is longer (its age), if you look at the design, it must be the design of the 80s or early 90s. Meanwhile, the one by LRT and also KAI, this is the newer one," explained Pramono.

According to Pramono, the existence of two JPOs with almost the same functions is also a picture of the policy of developing public facilities in the previous period. He assessed that coordination in policymaking at that time had not been going well.

"But after I saw it myself, this shows that in making policies, as I said, the leader's ego is not communicated well. So actually the two of them have exactly the same function," said Pramono.

With these considerations, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will dismantle the old JPO built by the local government. Meanwhile, the newer JPO will continue to be used with a number of improvements to its facilities.

Previously, the existence of two JPOs adjacent to Jalan Rasuna Said had been complained about by residents. The first JPO is a facility owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government which was built first and used as a means of crossing the community.

The other JPO is an integration facility built in order to support the connectivity of the Jabodebek LRT. This facility connects the Jabodebek LRT Station with the Transjakarta Stop.

The JPO owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government was previously also a direct access route to the Transjakarta Stop. However, this condition changed after the stop was moved and integrated with the Jabodebek LRT Station.

Since the integration, the public no longer uses the old JPO as access to the bus stop. The route to the Transjakarta Bus Stop now uses the integration JPO which was built as part of the Jabodebek LRT facilities.
