Vladimir Zelensky Claims US Promises to Supply Ukraine with Missiles Every Month

JAKARTA - President Vladimir Zelensky on Saturday claimed that Ukraine had made a deal with the United States that guaranteed monthly supplies of US-made air defense missiles.

"Who has anti-ballistic systems and missiles? The manufacturers, especially the US. Can they help us? We are working on it. Will they supply missiles every month? Yes. We have made a deal. Is the number of these missiles sufficient? No," Zelensky said at a joint press conference with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade.

The Ukrainian Air Force admitted that it had failed to shoot down any of the missiles fired at Ukraine on Tuesday and Friday night.

Zelensky recently, as reported by Antara, stated that the Ukrainian military was unable to shoot down ballistic missiles due to a lack of air defense missiles.

The deputy chairman of the Ukrainian parliamentary committee on national security, defense, and intelligence, Yehor Cherniev, on Thursday (6/8) revealed that the condition of the air defense system in Ukraine had reached its worst point since the conflict began in 2022.

The New York Times reported that Western countries are increasingly reluctant to supply Kiev with interceptor missiles because they need them to maintain their own defense capabilities.
